PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user operable driving tool for a wheelchair enabling a user to put the brakes on a wheelchair with a small force and securely decelerate or stop the wheelchair.SOLUTION: A user operable driving tool 10A for a wheelchair has a stopping device with which a user on board a wheelchair decelerates or stops the wheelchair. The stopping device includes a band type brake or a drum type brake disposed on a main wheel, brake wires extending from the brake, and braking means which pulls the brake wires using a control lever 13 to actuate a brake. The braking means is formed of a turning member which is connected to a lower end of the lever 13 and can be turned in a horizontal direction together with the lever 13, a turning shaft which supports the turning member so as to be turned, and a first coil spring for energizing the turning member outward in a horizontal direction to restrict turning of the control lever 13 inward in a horizontal direction. |
