A method of making a wind turbine blade, the method comprising the steps of: providing a first half shell and a second half shell to be joined together to form the wind turbine blade, the half shells each extending in a longitudinal direction; providing a shear web to be bonded between an inner surface of the first half shell and an inner surface of the second half shell; providing an adhesive bead between a flange of the shear web and the inner surface of the first half shell; applying a clamping force between the first half shell and the shear web, the clamping force serving to move the shear web and the first half shell closer together and thereby squeezing the adhesive between the flange of the shear web and the inner surface of the first half shell; monitoring the displacement of the adhesive with a camera located between the first and second half shells.
