PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent failure of contact between a cleaning blade and an image carrier due to formation of a protrusion part resulting from frictional resistance between the cleaning blade and image carrier.SOLUTION: A cleaning device of the application of the present invention includes: an image carrier 6; a cleaning blade 41 that is in contact with the image carrier 6 on the downstream side with respect to a transfer position to scrape off a residual material RE on the image carrier 6; and a pressing member 43 that presses a portion of the surface of the image carrier 6 on the upstream side with respect to a contact part with the cleaning blade 41.
