PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin which has a low photoelastic constant, good fluidity, excellent thermal stability and good safety and exhibits wavelength dispersion suitable for optical applications such as a retardation film or a protective film of a polarizing plate and to provide an optical film.SOLUTION: There is provided a polycarbonate resin containing a repeating unit represented by (A) and having a specific viscosity of 0.20 to 1.50 which is obtained by melt-polymerization of a dihydroxy component containing a host-guest complex using dihydroxyfluorene inducing the repeating unit (A) as a host compound and a diester carbonate in a presence of a polymerization catalyst. |
