PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emission device that can further enhance brightness and light distribution performance with high reliability, and a method of manufacturing the same surely, easily and highly accurately.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a light emission device comprising the steps of: preparing a light emission element 12 which has a first principal surface having a long side and a short side in top view and a pair of electrodes, a second principal surface at the opposite side to the first principal surface, a side surface containing the long side and a side surface containing the short side, the side surfaces being adjacent to the first and second principal surfaces, mounting the light emission element 12 on a substrate 11 having a pair of connection terminals 15, 16 and a base material 11a, coating the side surfaces containing the long side and the short side of the light emission element 12 with a translucent resin 18a, processing the translucent resin 18a to form a translucent member 18 having a slant surface from the first principal surface of the light emission element 12 to the second principal surface at the opposite side to the first principal surface, and coating the side surfaces containing the short side or long side of the light emission element 12 and the slant surface of the translucent member 18 with a light reflective member 13. |
