The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for determining the driving tendency of a driver, and more specifically, to an apparatus and a method for determining the driving tendency of a driver, capable of determining a driving tendency of a driver based on speed reaching time or an increase in acceleration. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for determining a driving tendency of a driver comprises: a detection unit to detect data to determine a driving tendency of a driver; and a control unit to determine the driving tendency of a driver based on the data, and control an engine or a transmission according to the driving tendency of a driver. The control unit checks speed reaching time or an increase in acceleration and calculates a driving tendency index based on the speed reaching time or the increase in acceleration if an opening rate of an accelerator position sensor (APS) of a vehicle is higher than or equal to a reference value while the vehicle is coasting. |
