PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for coating of a fiber cord which is excellent in low heat generation properties when molded to a tire and also in adhesiveness to a carcass cord and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for coating of a fiber cord comprises a diene rubber, carbon black and a nitrone compound having a carboxy group, and the diene rubber contains natural rubber and a styrene-butadiene rubber and/or butadiene rubber. The content of natural rubber in the total of the diene rubber and the nitrone compound is 65 mass% or lower; the content of carbon black is 40-67 pts. mass to the total of the diene rubber and the nitrone compound of 100 pts. mass; the content of the nitrone compound is 0.1-10 pts. mass to the total of the diene rubber and the nitrone compound of 100 pts. mass.
