PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize regeneration treatment for oxidation and removal of PM deposited in an exhaust emission control device while suppressing the degradation in the fuel economy of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine exhaust emission control system in which an exhaust emission control device containing a catalyst and a particulate filter is disposed in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, comprises estimation means estimating an amount of sulfur compounds deposited in the exhaust emission control device, and estimating a predetermined estimation amount of the sulfur compounds in each of a bonding form and an adsorption form out of the bonding form, the adsorption form, and an adhesion form that are deposition forms of the sulfur compounds classified in advance. If a deposition amount of particulate matters in the exhaust emission control device exceeds a predetermined first deposition amount, a regeneration treatment is executed. If the predetermined deposition amount of the sulfur compounds estimated by the estimation means exceeds a predetermined second deposition amount associated with adhesion and deposition in the exhaust emission control device, the regeneration treatment is executed by regeneration means. |
