PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or eliminate a situation where a caller who was previously placed on hold and listened to on-hold music misses first few words of what the other party said.SOLUTION: A method of handling telephone on-hold music, provided by a second party to a first party on a telephone connection between the first party and the second party, includes detecting on-hold music, and providing, while the on-hold music is detected, the first party with content from a source that is independent of the second party. A length of the most recently received audio information originating from the second party is continuously stored. When the on-hold music is no longer detected, voice information is retrieved from the length of the most recently received audio information, providing the first party with the content from the source that is independent of the second party is stopped, and the retrieved voice information is reproduced for the first party, where a time offset that corresponds to a time period required for detection of on-hold music is present. |
