PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improvement method capable of curbing influence of improving objective ground on a periphery thereof.SOLUTION: A ground improvement method comprises the steps of: installing vertical drains 2 at predetermined intervals in ground 1 to be improved; arranging a horizontal drain 4 on the ground 1 to be improved in a manner that connects upper edges of the vertical drains 2 to each other; covering the ground 1 to be improved, where the vertical drains 2 and the horizontal drain 4 are arranged, with an airtight sheet; constructing a deformation prevention wall 6 by driving a plurality of sheet piles in the form of a wall around the ground 1 to be improved; installing a supporting member 7, which prevents the deformation prevention wall 6 from inwardly deforming, inside the deforming prevention wall 6; and draining underground water in the ground 1 to be improved through the vertical drains 2 and the horizontal drain 4 with the horizontal drain 4 connected to a vacuum pump. |
