The present invention relates to a system and a method for controlling a fault of an intercooler for cooling an air compressor of a fuel cell which can determine whether a cooling function of an intercooler disposed on the rear end of an air compressor to supply air to a cathode of a fuel cell is functioning normally, and allow emergency operation depending on a determination result. The present invention compares a temperature of the rear end of the air compressor with a temperature of a rear end of the intercooler to determine abnormality of the cooling function of the intercooler if an error is lower than or equal to a reference value, and controls an air bypass amount relative to an air temperature of an inlet end of the cathode and opening of a pressure control valve to effectively control a back pressure in a pipe of the cathode to operate the fuel cell at a high output even when the intercooler fails. |
