A water heater (100) comprises: a housing (10) of a water tank, defining a cavity for containing water; a heat exchanging assembly (20), comprising multiple heat exchanging pipes (21) disposed at intervals; and a heat transmission component (30), disposed around the outer surface of the housing (10) and used for driving fluid in the heat exchanging pipes (21) to exchange heat with water in the cavity to change the temperature of the water. First grooves (31) that extend in a first direction and part of which are used for accommodating the heat exchanging pipes are formed in the surface of the heat transmission component (30) facing the housing. The heat transmission component (30) and/or the heat exchanging assembly (20) is fixed on the housing (10). Also provided is a method for forming the water heater.
