At a base station, bearer information is received piggy-backed along with one or more quality of service parameters for a bearer management request procedure. The bearer information is for a bearer for a user equipment that is assigned to a group for a group communication. The base station applies specific group communication handling for the bearer, based on the bearer information. At a node in a core network of a cellular communication system, bearer information is received for a bearer management request procedure. The bearer information is for a bearer for a user equipment that is assigned to a group for a group communication. The node sends the bearer information, piggy-backed along with one or more quality of service parameters for the bearer, toward a base station attached to the user equipment. Methods, apparatus, program products, and software are disclosed.
