This invention provides a charger in which a power-conversion inverter can be reliably stopped in response to a forced-stop signal without an increase in component count. A control power source (3) supplies a power-source voltage to gate-driving circuits (21a through 21d) that supply gate signals to an inverter. Said control power source (3) contains a transformer (306), a power-source control IC (304) that repeatedly opens and closes a primary-side circuit comprising a primary winding (306a) of the transformer (306) and an accessory power source connected in series, and a rectifier circuit (309a) that rectifies an AC voltage generated in a secondary winding (306c) of the transformer (306), thereby generating the abovementioned power-source voltage to supply to the gate-driving circuits (21a through 21d). In response to a forced-stop signal, the power-source control IC (304) turns a FET (305) off so as to forcibly close the abovementioned primary-side circuit and stop the power-source voltage from being supplied to the gate-driving circuits (21a through 21d). |
