The present invention provides: a benzothiadiazole derivative which is a compound that can be used in a wavelength conversion sheet to be used as a constituent member of a solar cell module or the like and can absorb ultraviolet light to blue light to emit light, and which has superior heat resistance and moisture resistance compared with those of the conventional known europium complexes; and a use of the compound. The benzothiadiazole derivative according to the present invention is represented by any one of general formulae (1) to (3). In formulae (1) to (3), R1's and R2's independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may be substituted, an aralkyl group which may be substituted, a cycloalkyl group which may be substituted, an alkoxyl group which may be substituted, an aryl group which may be substituted, a heteroaryl group which may be substituted, an alkoxycarbonyl group which may be substituted, a silyl group, a halogen atom, a cyano group or a nitro group, wherein R1's may be bound to each other to form a cyclic structure and the cyclic structure may be substituted. |
