摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which enables the achievement of both a high capacity and a high output.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, comprises: primary particles of a lithium nickel complex oxide expressed by the general formula, LiNiCoMO(where M represents at least one element selected from Mg, Al, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Nb, Zr and Mo; b, x, y satisfy the conditions given by: 0.95&le;b&le;1.03, 0<x&le;0.15, 0<y&le;0.07, and x+y&le;0.16); and secondary particles into which the primary particles agglomerate. Each primary particle has, on its surface, fine particles including W and Li. Further, the lithium nickel complex oxide has a length of c-axis is 14.183 angstroms or longer, which is determined from Rietveld analysis of X-ray diffraction.
