PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object recognition device capable of reducing throughput required to determine whether an object in an image obtained from an imaging unit corresponds to an object of interest of a predetermined type.SOLUTION: An object recognition device comprises a type determination unit 5 determining whether an object present in an image obtained from an imaging unit 2 corresponds to a pedestrian. The type determination unit 5 includes a direction-specific determination unit 6 determining the person in which of right, left, front, and rear directions the object in the image corresponds to. If the direction-specific determination unit 6 makes a first determination to the effect that the object in the image corresponds to the pedestrian in any of the directions, the type determination unit 5 determines that the object in the image is the pedestrian without determining whether the object corresponds to the pedestrian in the other target direction. |
