PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel molecule STING, useful for treatment of immunity-related disorders comprising treating and preventing infection by modulating immunity.SOLUTION: STING was isolated in an expression screening as one of the genes that induced IFN&bgr;-Luc approximately 250-fold when approximately 5,500 human and 9,000 mouse full length cDNAs were transfected into 293T cells harboring a luciferase gene under control of IFN&bgr; promoter (IFN&bgr;-Luc). Also provided is a nucleic acid sequence encoding STING. In MEFs STING-/-, IFN&bgr; is not induced on infection of human cytomegalovirus or vaccinia virus, and the mortality of STING deficient mice increased on HSV-1 virus infection. |
