The invention relates to the use of coated metallic pigments in a liquid polymer formulation for improving the ability of the surface of the polymer formulation to be electroplated after curing. The invention further relates to a liquid polymer formulation comprising the metallic pigments to be used according to the invention, to a method for electroplating a polymer surface, and to electroplated articles produced by a method according to the invention or comprising the metallic pigments to be used according to the invention in a polymer layer below the electroplating layer.
