A system and method of delivering vehicle data 202. Reference data 334 is received by a data processing system 218. The reference data 334 comprises a reference 226 identifying the vehicle data 202 stored in a repository 219 that is located off of a vehicle 204 and reference authentication data 340 identifying a source 304 of the reference data 334. The data processing system 218 uses the reference authentication data 340 to determine whether the reference data 334 is from an approved source 308 for the reference data 334. The reference 226 is used to retrieve the vehicle data 202 from the repository 219 by the data processing system 218 when the reference data 334 is determined to be from the approved source 308 for the reference data 334. The vehicle data 202 comprises authentication data 312 identifying a source 304 of the vehicle data 202. The data processing system 218 uses the authentication data 312 to determine whether the vehicle data 202 is from an approved source 308 for the vehicle data 202.
