PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for acquiring pixel signals for focus detection over a wide area, without degrading the spatial frequency information, when mixing and decimating the pixel signals for imaging under an environment where the imaging frame speed is limited.SOLUTION: An imaging device includes an imaging element consisting of a plurality of pixels capable of outputting a pair of signals, by performing photoelectric conversion of a light flux passed through different pupil regions of a photographic optical system including a focus lens. The focus lens is driven depending on a defocus amount calculated based on the phase difference information from the pixels arranged in a focus detection region A set by user operation, or the like, and the focus detection region A set for every frame is switched sequentially to other regions B, C and changed. |
