The purpose of the present invention is to obtain a battery block preventing deterioration in heat transfer efficiency of a temperature sensor and having high assembly work efficiency, and a secondary battery module housing the battery block. A battery block (40) according to present invention includes: a plurality of battery cells (101); a holding case (111) holding the plurality of battery cells (101) in a state of a part of the battery cells (101) being externally exposed; and a temperature detection sensor (301) pressed onto the battery cells (101) to detect a temperature of the battery cells (101). The holding case (111) is fitted with a sensor holding portion (211) holding the temperature detection sensor (301) in a state of being pressed onto the externally exposed part (101a) of the battery cells (101).
