PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of monitoring an object conveyed on a conveyor, configured to detect an object conveyed by a conveyor having an irregular surface which is partially exposed, and a monitoring apparatus.SOLUTION: In monitoring an object 11 conveyed on a conveyor 10 having an irregular surface which is partially exposed, a television camera 3 images an area including a part of the conveyance surface of the conveyer 10 irradiated with slit light, while irradiating the conveyance surface of the conveyor 10, with no object placed thereon, with the slit light from a light source 2, to obtain a basic pattern by image processing. An actual pattern is obtained in the same way in conveying the object 11 on the conveyor 10. The basic pattern and the actual pattern are compared with each other, to obtain a plurality of difference images. The object is detected from the difference images. |
