Inspection System

摘要

An imaging module takes an image of an area which includes the tipping paper, the filter and the cigarette roll of a smoking article seated on the rolling drum. A processing module processes the image taken by the imaging module. The area of the image taken by the imaging module is divided into a first area in which the tipping paper is positioned and a second area in which the filter is positioned. The processing module determines a defect by detecting the image on the first area and the second area.

1. A system comprising:
a machine for manufacturing a smoking article, wherein the machine comprisesa rotatable tipping drum to which a tipping paper web is continuously supplied, a cutter to cut the tipping paper web at predetermined intervals to form individual tipping papers and, a conveying drum configured to receive a plurality of sets of rod articles and convey them in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rod articles, each set of said plurality of sets of rod articles also receiving an individual tipping paper for wrapping and coupling the rod articles of each set together as the conveying drum rotates; and
an imaging module positioned relative to the conveying drum to generate an image of the rod articles and individual tipping paper of each set whilst being seated on said conveying drum and before wrapping of the set of rod articles by the individual tipping paper is complete; and, a processing module configured to process images generated by the imaging module, wherein the processing module is configured to analyse images in a first area in which the individual tipping paper is positioned, and, determine a defect in the position of the individual tipping paper of a set imaged by the imaging module by analysing the first area.
