Disclosed is a semiconductor component (1) comprising a semiconductor chip (2) provided for generating a primary radiation having a first peak wavelength, and a radiation conversion element (3) on the semiconductor chip (2). The radiation conversion element (3) includes a quantum structure (30) which converts at least some of the primary radiation into secondary radiation having a second peak wavelength, and a substrate (35) that is permeable to the primary radiation. Also disclosed is an illumination device (11) comprising a semiconductor component (1) of said type.
