PRODUCTION METHOD OF LIQUID CRYSTAL MATERIAL AND LIQUID CRYSTAL MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a liquid crystal material which enables easy design and production of a liquid crystal material showing BP throughout the temperature range suitable for practical use and being capable of suppressing the drive voltage at a low level when used in liquid crystal elements, etc. and a liquid crystal material obtained by the method.SOLUTION: A production method of a liquid crystal material showing a blue phase includes a step of mixing a liquid crystal material showing a nematic phase with a chiral dopant (A) which is positive in HTP(Helical Twisting Power) and decreases in the absolute value of HTP when the temperature is raised from 40°C to 90°C and a chiral dopant (B) which is negative in HTP and increases in the absolute value of HTP when the temperature is raised from 40°C to 90°C. The production method may use individual enantiomers of (A) and (B).
