A method of determining an anomalous state within a processing system, said method comprising: obtaining, by a processor, one or more values of one or more metrics of the processing system; determining, by the processor, one or more sets of predicted values for one or more points in time in the future for one or more metrics, wherein a set of predicted values for a point in time in the future comprises a plurality of predicted values for the point in time in the future, the plurality of predicted values determined at a plurality of different points in time, and wherein the determining is based on the one or more values of one or more metrics; determining, for one or more sets of predicted values, one or more change values, wherein a change value for the set of predicted values represents changes in the plurality of predicted values for the point in time in the future; and determining, by the processor, at a current time, based on the one or more change values, whether an anomalous state exists within the processing system at a future time.
