POLYMER ELECTROLYTE AND USAGE OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrocarbon-based polymer electrolyte which exerts a high proton conductivity, is reduced in humidity dependence of mechanical characteristics and does not deteriorate in strength even when a hydrated state and a dry state are repeated and is preferably usable as an electrolyte for fuel batteries.SOLUTION: A polymer electrolyte consists of a multi-block polymer which contains a dibenzothiophene structure in at least one of a hydrophilic segment containing a sulfonic acid group and a hydrophobic segment containing no sulfonic acid group. A polymer electrolyte film for fuel batteries, a catalyst layer for fuel batteries, a film/electrode joined body for fuel batteries and a fuel battery using the polymer electrolyte are also provided.
