PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase reliability.SOLUTION: A thickness detection part 60 includes: a reference roller 56 that contacts with a bill conveyed through a conveyance path 32, and rotates around a reference roller shaft 64 along the width direction of the bill orthogonal to the conveyance direction thereof; a thickness detection roller 58 that is provided counter to the reference roller 56 with the conveyance path 32 interposed therebetween, and rotates, by contacting with the reference roller 56, around a detection roller shaft 68 approximately parallel with the reference roller shaft 64; a plate 69 and a spring 74 that support the thickness detection roller 58 separably from the reference roller 56, and press the thickness detection roller 58 to the center of the reference roller 56; and a displacement sensor 59 that detects the amount of displacement of the thickness detection roller 58, which is associated with the direction in which the thickness detection roller 58 contacts with and separates from the reference roller 56. |
