PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt for a continuously variable transmission capable of simultaneously achieving prevention of separation of hard thin film layers formed on metallic rings and reduction of frictional resistance of the metallic rings.SOLUTION: In a belt (15) for a continuously variable transmission in which a plurality of metallic elements (32) are stacked on a metallic ring assembly (31) formed by stacking a plurality of metallic rings (33), the plurality of metallic rings (33-1 to 33-12) counted successively from an inner peripheral side including the metallic ring (33-1) of the innermost periphery, have uneven faces (38) on their surfaces (33a). As DLC film layers (hard thin film layers) 61 are formed only on the surfaces (33-2a to 33-12a) of the plurality of metallic rings (33-2 to 33-12) successively counted from an outer peripheral side while excluding at least the metallic ring (33-1) of the innermost periphery having most severe operating conditions such as contact surface pressure and sliding speed among the plurality of metallic rings (33), the separation of the DLC film layers 61 can be effectively prevented. |
