Disclosed are a polyhydroxyl polymer embolic microsphere and a preparation process therefor. The polyhydroxyl polymer embolic microsphere is formed by cross-linking polymerization of biocompatible functional macromolecules. The functional macromolecule comprises: an acetal structure comprising at least two groups containing acrylic acid or a derivative thereof connected on the main chain or a polymer at least comprising two cross-linkable micromolecules which are connected in a covalent bond mode and have the structure of acrylic acid or a derivative thereof. The acetal structures or crosslinkable micromolecules can form a hydrogel unsaturated functional group through free radical polymerization crosslinking, and a functional group using an organic acid radical as a negative charge carrier is contained inside the microsphere. The embolic microsphere can be used for a minimally invasive treatment.
