摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector enabling a high-speed start while securing long-term reliability by suppressing local heat generation of fluorescent light bodies.SOLUTION: A projector 1 comprises: a light source unit 55 including an excitation light source 11 emitting at least excitation light; a fluorescent light disc 13 continuously formed with fluorescent light bodies converting excitation light into fluorescent light in a circumferential direction; a motor section 14 rotating the fluorescent light disc 13 about an axis passing through a center of a circle in the circumferential direction; light modulation units 30R, 30G and 30B modulating the light including at least the fluorescent light and generating image light; and a projection optical system 60 projecting the image light. The excitation light source 11 is turned on when a number of revolutions of the fluorescent light disc 13 attains a predetermined number lower than a target value. Output of the excitation light source 11 increases when the number of revolutions of the fluorescent light disc 13 increases after the number of revolutions of the fluorescent light disc 13 attains the predetermined number.
