PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the consumption of electric power of a low-pressure battery if a power converter fails.SOLUTION: A hybrid electric vehicle including an engine and a MG and capable of traveling by at least one of the engine and the MG, comprises: a high-pressure battery supplying electric power to the MG; a low-pressure battery supplying electric power lower in voltage than the electric power supplied by the high-pressure battery; a starter actuated by the electric power supplied from the low-pressure battery and capable of cranking the engine; a power converter converting the voltage of the electric power supplied from the high-pressure battery to the low-pressure battery; and a control unit actuated by the electric power supplied from the low-pressure battery and controlling the engine, the MG, and the starter. The MG can crank the engine. The control unit cranks the engine using the starter in non-failed state of the power converter and cranks the engine using the MG if the power converter fails (S123). |
