摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer for an alignment film that can manufacture a liquid crystal display with less seizure even in a short light irradiation time, and a liquid crystal display with little seizure even in a short light irradiation time.SOLUTION: There is provided a liquid crystal display including a polymer for an alignment film that has a main chain and a side chain including a structure represented by the chemical formula -O-C(CH)(CO-CH)-O-, a pair of substrates, and a liquid crystal layer that is held between the pair of substrates, where at least one of the pair of substrates has an alignment film; the alignment film has a polymer layer controlling the orientation of liquid crystal molecules thereon; the alignment film is formed by using the polymer for an alignment film that has a main chain and a side chain including a structure represented by the chemical formula -O-C(CH)(CO-CH)-O-.
