PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-ionic surfactant that has high chlorine stability when allowed to coexist with chlorine agent, and also that has an excellent foaming-inhibitory effect.SOLUTION: Provided is a non-ionic surfactant characterized in having, at the terminal, a structure represented by a general formula (1). (In the formula: Ris a hydrogen atom or alkyl group; Rand Rare a hydrocarbon group which may contain an ether bond, and Rand Rmay form a ring; (AO)n is a polyoxyalkylene chain formed by random polymerization of at least two oxyalkylene groups selected from the group consisting of oxyethylene group, oxypropylene group, and oxy-butylene group; and n represents an average addition mole number for the oxyalkylene groups, and is a number of 3 to 400.). |
