PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight assembly capable of attaining thinning and weight saving, and a planar display device.SOLUTION: A backlight assembly includes: a light source unit generating light; a light guide plate guiding light, and containing a groove recessed so as to head for the inside thereof on at least one side surface; and a storage container comprising a bottom surface and a plurality of side walls defining a storage space, and forming a space between a first projection part, connecting to the groove by folding a part of the side wall in a groove direction, and an adjacent side wall. |
