The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for coating leather with a color image, which can continuously be conducted without blurring or messing the color image, allows mass production as well as production of various kinds in small quantities, and allows high-quality, high value-added image realization. To this end, the present invention provides a method for coating leather with a color image, which is a color image coating method for a surface of leather and comprises: a leather preparation step for preparing leather having a coating layer to be coated with a color image; a color image printed matter preparation step for preparing printed matter comprising a printing layer having the color image to be coated on the leather; a step for preparing a solvent for ink transfer for transferring the color image of the printed matter to a surface of the leather; a leather flattening/transfer step for flattening/transferring the leather so that the leather is transferred in a flat state; an ink transfer solvent application step for applying the solvent for ink transfer to the printing layer of the printed matter and/or the coating layer of the leather; a color image coating step for coating by compression the leather with the image inks contained in the color image of the printed matter, with the solvent for ink transfer interposed between the leather being transferred and the color image printed matter; and a post-treatment step for collecting the printed matter having the color image coated on the leather and for post-treating the leather coated with the color image. |
