PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium, a system, and a method for optical transmission capable of suppressing an increase in crosstalk caused by an increase in the number of cores and in transmission distance.SOLUTION: An optical transmission medium is a multicore optical fiber 53, 53' having an even number of cores 1, 2, 3, 4 as optical waveguides arranged on sides or vertices of a polygon or on a circle in a cross-section perpendicular to a propagation direction of light. The cores are grouped according to either rows or distance from the center of the cores, and adjacent cores or core groups are arranged to have at least different signal light propagation directions, core refractive indices, or signal light wavelengths. |
