Disclosed are an automatic tracking system for an ice breaking model ship, and an operation method thereof. The present invention provides the automatic tracking system for the ice breaking model ship, capable of calculating a relation between a movement of the ice breaking model ship driving in an icy water tank and an ice load. The automatic tracking system for the ice breaking model ship comprises: a rail unit (120) formed in a longitudinal direction of the icy water tank; the ice breaking model ship (130) performing rectilinear free sailing or turning free sailing in the icy water tank; a free sailing tracking unit (140) moving along the rail unit (120), and calculating a moving distance in the icy water tank as a position coordinate and a movement of a bow unit of the ice breaking model ship (130) in accordance to the ice load based on a photographed image after photographing a movement of the ice breaking model ship (130) freely sailing in the icy water tank; a control unit (150) calculating a relation between data measured in the free sailing tracking unit (140) and the ice load applied to the ice breaking model ship (130), and controlling the movement of the free sailing tracking unit (140); and a display unit (160) displaying a result value calculated by the control unit (150) for a user. |
