PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems in a polyelectrolyte used for a fuel cell or the like that if a mesogen on the side chain is biphenyl, higher proton conductivity cannot be provided; and if the main chain is an acrylic group, the film thickness cannot be made thin, thereby high power generation performance cannot be achieved.SOLUTION: The side chain biphenyl of a polyelectrolyte used for a fuel cell or the like is changed to 2,2'-bipyridine so as to promote stacking of mesogens each other, thereby formation of proton network is promoted to improve proton conductivity. Further, the main chain is altered from an acrylic or methacrylic skeleton to a phenylene skeleton and thereby, rigid skeleton is obtained to enable the film thickness to be thin, resulting in increase of power generation performance. |
