<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backside electrode substrate for an electronic paper, which has a wiring electrode hardly disconnected, hardly brings about uneven display, and allows acquisition of good information display characteristics when used in an electronic paper, and an electronic paper using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A backside electrode member for electronic paper includes: a display electrode layer 1 including an insulating layer 1αfor a display electrode and a display electrode 1βformed on the insulating layer 1αfor the display electrode and having a pattern shape corresponding to display information; a wiring electrode layer 2 including an insulating layer 2αfor a wiring electrode, which is disposed on the display electrode 1βof the display electrode layer 1, and a wiring electrode 2βformed on the insulating layer 2αfor the wiring electrode and having a pattern shape capable of giving charges to the display electrode 1β; and a protection film 3 formed on the wiring electrode 2βof the wiring electrode 2.
