A method of manufacturing a security device component comprises: providing a photosensitive film 1 comprising a diazonium compound and providing a dye coupler film 5 comprising at least one dye coupler; exposing elements of the photosensitive film 1 to radiation 22 in accordance with a predetermined pattern 13; and contacting at least part of the photosensitive film 1 against at least part of the dye coupler film 5 so as to at least partially transfer one or more dye couplers to the photosensitive film 1, whereupon unexposed elements of the photosensitive film 1exhibit one or more colours such that the photosensitive film 1 exhibits a reproduction of the predetermined pattern 13. A security device including an exposed photosensitive film that exhibits a multi coloured pattern is also disclosed; the security device includes an exposed photosensitive film that includes a pattern made up of first and second colours produced by first and second azo dyes.
