The centrifuge (1) has a drum (6) and a screw unit (7) arranged in the drum. The screw unit is rotatably supported relative to the drum around a rotational axis (2) by a bearing device. The bearing device has one or multiple magnetic bearings (15,19). One of the magnetic bearing is formed as a passive bearing. A safety bearing is arranged parallel to the magnetic bearings.
