The present invention provides a transportation apparatus which allows transport containers varying in shape or size to be transported without changing an apparatus configuration, and also can prevent works in a transport container from popping out of the transport container with a simple apparatus configuration. An overhead carriage (10) comprises a chucking device (20) for gripping a magazine (80) accommodating work. The overhead carriage (10) transports the magazine (80) gripped by the chucking device (20). The chucking device (20) comprises a gripping part (21) for gripping the magazine (80), and a sensor (23) for detecting the magazine (80) gripped by the gripping part (21). The gripping part (21) is controlled on the basis of the detection of the sensor (23) to grip the magazine (80) so that gripping part (21) prevents works stored in the magazine (80) from popping out. |
