A medical device includes an outer shell defining a cavity, wherein the shell is movable between a deformed and unstressed state, a magnet disposed within the cavity, and a filler material carried within the cavity conforming to the interior shape of the shell in the unstressed state and being capable of holding its shape in the deformed state. The filler material converts from the deformed state to the unstressed state at a temperature not greater than human body temperature.

1. A method for obesity control, comprising:
configuring a plurality of medical devices into an insertion configuration for insertion into a stomach of a living body, each of the devices including a shell defining a cavity containing a magnet and a filler material, the filler material maintaining a shape of the shell in the insertion configuration; introducing into a stomach of a living body the medical devices in the insertion configuration in proximity to one another so that attraction between the magnets of the medical devices draws them together into a cluster; and changing a state of the filler material to permit the shell to revert from the insertion configuration to an undeformed state in which the filler material conforms to a shape of the shell.
