1. A genetically modified microorganism capable of oxidizing an organic substance,
wherein the microorganism is genetically modified to synthesize an oxidizing enzyme and an alkane degradation (alk) L gene product, the alkL gene product is encoded by an alkL gene of Pseudomonas putida, the alkL gene product is provided independently of a second gene product produced from an alk operon comprising the alkL gene in a naturally occurring form, the second gene product is encoded by at least one gene selected from the group consisting of alkF, alkG, alkH, and alkK genes, the organic substance is at least one branched or unbranched, saturated or unsaturated, optionally substituted substance selected from the group consisting of an alkane, an alkene, an alkyne, an alcohol, an aldehyde, a ketone, a carboxylic acid, an ester of a carboxylic acid, an amine, and an epoxide, and the organic substance comprises from 3 to 22 carbon atoms. |
