The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting ACYL-CoA : Cholesterol Acyltransferase (ACAT) containing Zizyphus jujuba Mill extract as an active ingredient. The Zizyphus jujuba Mill extract according to the present invention inhibits the enzymatic activity of ACAT, and thus decreases total cholesterol in the blood, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein (LDL), and increases high density lipoprotein (HDL), and reduces fat and weight around the ovaries to suppress obesity. Therefore, the composition according to the present invention can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating cardiovascular diseases including hyperlipidemia, atherosclerosis, etc. |
