A polypeptide comprising a variant Fc region as compared to a parent Fc polypeptide, said variant Fc region comprising an amino acid substitution at position 308, wherein said amino acid substitution is selected from the group consisting of a phenylalanine, a cysteine, a tyrosine and a tryptophan, wherein said polypeptide has increased in vivo half-life as compared to a polypeptide comprising said parent Fc polypeptide, wherein said polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of an antibody and an immunoadhesin and wherein numbering is according to the EU Index in Kabat et al.
