Quick disconnect connector assembly

A quick-disconnect connector assembly includes a housing having a bore that extends up to but not through a first end of the housing. The connector assembly also includes a proximity switch disposed within the bore, and the proximity switch includes a switch body, a first contact member, and a second contact member. A portion of each of the first and second contact members extends from the switch body towards a second end of the housing. In a first switch position, a contact of a displaceable switching assembly is in contact with the first contact member, and in a second switch position, the contact is in contact with the second contact member. The connector assembly also includes an external connection assembly including a first pin that is electrically coupled to the first contact member and a second pin that is electrically coupled to the second contact member.

1. A quick-disconnect connector assembly comprising:
a housing that extends along a longitudinal axis from a first end to a longitudinally-opposite second end, the housing including one or more interior surfaces that cooperate to define a bore that extends from the second end to a point adjacent to the first end such that the bore does not extend through the first end of the housing, wherein the bore includes a first bore portion; and a proximity switch disposed within the first bore portion, the proximity switch comprising: a switch body extending along a body longitudinal axis, the switch body having a first end disposed adjacent to the first end of the housing and a longitudinally-opposite second end; and a first contact member and a second contact member, each of the first and second contact members having a first end and a longitudinally-opposite second end, the second end being disposed within the switch body and the first end being disposed external to the switch body, wherein a portion of each of the first and second contact members extends from the second end of the switch body towards the second end of the housing, wherein in a first switch position, a contact of a displaceable switching assembly is in contact with a portion of the first contact member, and in a second switch position, the contact of the switching assembly is in contact with a portion of the second contact member; and an external connection assembly including a first pin that is electrically coupled to the first contact member and a second pin that is electrically coupled to the second contact member, wherein the first pin and the second pin each extend in a longitudinal direction, and wherein at least a portion of each of the first pin and the second pin are disposed within the bore.
