摘要 A method of decoding an image includes the steps of restoring a residual value by performing inverse quantization and inverse transform on the residual value by entropy decoding a received bit stream, generating a prediction unit by performing intra prediction selectively using one of a plurality of prediction modes on a prediction unit split by conducting at least one of asymmetric partitioning and geometrical partitioning, and restoring an image by adding the residual value to the prediction unit. It may be possible to enhance encoding efficiency of high-resolution images having a resolution of HD or higher by performing intra prediction on the asymmetric partitioning and/or geometrical partitioning.

An apparatus for encoding an image, the apparatus comprising: an intra predicting unit configured to perform intra-prediction encoding by selectively using one of a plurality of prediction modes on a prediction unit which is split, and an entropy encoding unit configured to generate a bit stream by performing entropy encoding based on the intra-prediction encoding; wherein when a planar intra prediction mode is activated, a predicted pixel value of an internal pixel of a current prediction unit is obtained by performing bilinear interpolation using (a) vertically and horizontally directional corresponding pixel values in previously decoded left side block and upper end block of the current prediction unit, and (b) vertically and horizontally directional corresponding internal boundary prediction pixel values in the current prediction unit, wherein the vertically and horizontally directional corresponding internal boundary prediction pixel values include: a pixel value of a first pixel which is located on a lowermost boundary of the current prediction unit and on a same vertical column as the internal pixel, and a pixel value of a second pixel which is located on a rightmost boundary of the current prediction unit and on a same horizontal row as the internal pixel.
